With the launch of AEW, WWE has real competition for the first time in years. As history shows, this is great news for wrestling fans.

In a longform piece for The Ringer, Oliver Lee Bateman details the century-long history of the real competitors in professional wrestling: the promoters.

All well and good, but no wrestler can match the pound-for-pound fury of Brick In Washing Machine On Trampoline! And Hulkster never tore off his shirt like this.

zaixfeep's post might seem off -topic, but I'm guessing those two videos posted in response to this one?

Not off-topic - i've seen wrestlers make the same moves as these machines. Also Rockem Sockem Robots.

I get that, I was pre-emptively trying to prevent a mod from deleting your lead-off comment as irrelevant because they wouldn't have known the context.

Regarding the promotion, I am pretty excited/nervous for what AEW does when they begin their weekly television show starting in October (I think). Can they craft weekly storylines with the relatively small number of contracted talent they have? Granted, WWE is under-utilizing a lot of their own people anyway, keeping them off TV despite having 5 hours of network time to fill.

AEW could have greater depth in any given hour than WWE does these days if they had eight people on the roster, and I'm including Bryce Remsburg in that number.

On the other hand AEW has Fenix and Pentagon, Jr. so I'm sold.

It's worth noting that tonight's AEW show is streaming for free for those interested. They also usually do an hour long show on youtube prior to the actual start of the show. So far they've had some very good stuff on every show.

It's official: as of the first week of October, there will be WWE Raw on USA Network on Mondays, AEW on TNT on Wednesdays, and WWE Smackdown on Fox on Fridays.
