Move over Amsterdam, Vancouver has been voted the world's best spot for marijuana smokers, according to the summer edition of High Times. I'm so proud.

Still would rather go to Amsterdam. Sorry Vancouver, you should try legalizing a few more things, and move closer to Europe.

I'd have voted for Austin, Texas, but I was too stoned to bother.

I've visited Amsterdam and Vancouver. In my opinion, they have equal, though different, appeal. Equally difficult to to sneak a little sample home!

Austin? Isn't the illegality enforced there? (Plus, isn't it something outrageous like US$250/oz?)

As much as I love Amsterdam, I can see why Vancouver could edge it out: nice beaches, mountains, etc. Potheads enjoying skiing and boarding and hiking and sailing.

I loved this line "Tourism Vancouver's Paul Vallee said the top billing adds to the city's hip image." -- now, if we only got a Mayor and Premier who understood that.

Umm...well...okay, yeah. But it goes really well with Shiner and BBQ. I withdraw Austin from consideration.

$250... that's almost as much as gold at $310/oz.

Mmmm ... Shiner. *drool*

US $250/oz is a bargain 'round these parts.

There's a joke about musicians who come through Seattle to play...you quite often get some pretty lethargic shows, because the pre-show bong rip is a little too much for folks not used to non-BC bud, which is most of what goes around here — even Seattle weed that isn't actually from BC is typically grown with BC seeds. I saw Wu Tang a few months ago, and the poor Wu were so wasted they could barely lift their mics. HA!

Er, excuse my double negative. Shoulda been "...too much for folks not used to BC bud."

Mental Note: Open chain of Potato Chip and Cookie stands in Vancouver area.

Thank heavens. Now everybody can blame Canada, and leave a dope tourist-free Amsterdam to us.

You and half the people on Parliament Hill on Monday. How anyone can want to puff on the wizard's lettuce when it's 43 degrees outside is beyond me.

Amsterdam? Legal prostitution? Legalized pot? Um... duh?

Hmmm...I guess more HT voters get to sample Vancouver than Amsterdam. Also, it's worth giving VA a leg-up in the bud visitor stakes.

However I'd imagine the choices are more limited then The Dam. Sure, there's excellent supplies of BC bud but what about the 'OO', pollen, Charras, Nepalese & Lebanese &c. on the hashish front?

you have to be absolutely right, you can not compare the kind of products and stuff you can get in amsterdam. i have never been in vancouver, but it surely has to be a great city if you're able to smoke freely.
i think it's getting harder for the narcosto pass the weed to the u.s.a. here in mexico it's getting cheaper: $5/oz!

The thing is, nobody reads high times in europe. I'm not sure anybody reads it here, but people at least pay attention to their press releases.

In Austin, by the way, it's more like $80-100 an oz. Depending on who you know. New York, however, is a different question altogether.

Damn New York.
