haha! :) one of the most polarizing records of the year (in my perception/bubble) but it's so in-your-face, stupid but honest (at least I don't agree with the team "but it's all irony"), catchy but also draining?
It's gonna make my top list at the end of the year, no doubt, but I fully understand that 100 gecs are ...an aquired taste.

(Somewhat relatedly: new Black Dresses [Bandcamp] release tomorrow, I'm excited!)

I’ve been listening to this over and over since it was released. Cannot stop. Glad to see it here on MeFi.

The 'stupid horse' vid was like earbleach to me, but I was delighted to see the marvelous Japan World Cup playing as the background... as featured by Dunkey.

Thanks, I hate it!

Did I do that right?

I love it when, in the course of eating itself, the Internet shits out something brilliant instead of awful.

And I totally blame Teenage Engineering for this.

i have a very low physical tolerance for noise music but sometimes it just slaps so hard and i listen to it for a whole afternoon and this is my one for the year

This is a thing of exquisite beauty.

Also, by neighbor’s chihuahua is now going completely berserk and I suspect it’s not a coincidence.

This reminds me a whole lot of Plus-Tech Squeezebox, which marked the weird-and-stupid (but secretly pretty intelligent) frontier of Japan's Shibuya-kei music scene.

There will probably always be a need for somebody to delimit the anarchic extremes possible within contemporary pop music.

Oh btw, they've put up stems of the album for public remixes.

So do I, and I think that's the point, and now I want to listen to more.

Pro Tip: listen without the distracting video. Put on your angry kid hat first.

Nah, that video is blessed. The alternate is likewise hype.

i hate it and love it. it is a sore spot that i keep poking to feel. a day later still singing stupid horse to self earworm style (though i don't think i'm getting the words right, i also don't think it matters if i do). i have shared it with a friend, whose response was muted. and i am struggling with the urge to share it with my parents and li'l lurk (cause the one prior experience 100gecs reminded me of was some stupid video of a gummybear riding a toilet with horrid sounds that li'l lurk liked)

It reminds me of Grimes's Art Angels, but I think I'd rather just listen to that.
