Katy Perry's "Roar," but it's John Coltrane's "Giant Steps," but it's smooth jazz.
Happy Friday I guess.

This is awesome, and Simon Fransman's channel is a treasure trove. Thanks!

I think the magic of Giant Steps is that it's somehow simultaneously the fifth and the third.

The vocal track is really well done. It sounds much more natural than most of these pitch-shifted/auto-tuned mashups.

Here's a palate cleanser for anyone who needs one. (WARNING: not actually a palate cleanser.)

I'm sure Tommy Flanagan said something like that upon seeing the chord changes.

I do like things that trip up my musical senses and I made it most of the way through this one. But I couldn’t embrace it.

Two great tastes that have no business being near each other. I had to go listen to the actual Giant Steps just to exorcise the mashup out of my head.

It had me till the chorus, ah well.
All Star but it's O! Canada, but it's Bossa nova, but it's backwards, but Hitler was assassainated, but the Planck constant is an even 7 X 10 ^ - 34 m^2* kG/s seems like the logical next piece.

That's exquisitely painful. Somehow though it's still bland enough sounding if you're not paying attention. In a noisy crowded place, it could go unnoticed for a while, just raising the general irritation level. It would be fun to slip it into the rotation at a Starbucks.
