I can’t stop laughing at the image of a hundred men going into a private Facebook group to makes bets on the outcome of the Illinois Pick 3 Plus Fireball Lottery in hopes of winning muffins homemade by a stranger.

Peak 2019. Just absolutely bonkers. But I’m definitely getting some ideas...

The appeal of this is deeply mysterious to me.

Beyond the mystery, what is annoying about this is that people can't find a platform other than Facebook for it. Facebook lacks any sort of transactional capability and is completely ill-suited to raffles with complicated rules. Still, all of this activity is on Facebook, making Zuck money, because it's the platform everyone is familiar with.

I thought by "rare meat" they would mean like penguin steaks, but no, it's just boring regular beef distributed through a lottery.

Gray market meat

unappetizing.

Iberian octopus, though, is tasty. You can get it at almost any traditional restaurant where I live. It's hardly rare, or expensive, and you can eat it without Facebook being involved.

Did no one play policy at the bodega? It was based off a similar random number of the last digit of the total take at the racetrack. And I used to buy steaks from this Mexican guy out of his van. I was cool before it was cool! Wait until the internet figures out you can buy shitty DVDs from a Chinese woman at a bar at 1AM.

Is there a Facebook group for stolen art? Because maybe they can help find the paintings from Isabella Stewart Gardner robbery. (Previously.)

A friend of mine wins these with such regularity it's bonkers. I may have eaten more wagyu beef in the past year, attending dinner at his, than I have in the previous five put together.

I don't get the baked goods element. Elaine's brownies are so good I'll enter a raffle, er, razzle for them? Or are they special brownies?
