On Facebook, someone I have never heard of and with whom I have no friends in common sent me a one-word message:

ASSHOLE

It is a small yet enduring mystery.

Similar, but very different: HIDE's "Chainsaw"
The lyrics to Chainsaw aren't written by the band, rather, they are a slew of verbal assaults they have received repeatedly on the street, often while in the company of a child.
Warning: awful, angry lyrics over brutal industrial noise. Performed as the opener in their recent/current tour.

I like her. I like all the use of "no offense" in particular, especially all the misspellings of it.

In a similar vein, "Troll" by Kawehi (Kawehi previously on MeFi).

I'm gonna be sad but not surprised if I wake up and there are like ten more "in a similar vein" songs linked in this thread.

The horrid insults sung in that sweet voice . It’s great! I had a weird mystery stalker at one point. They seem to be a failed artist. The Internet is full of weirdness

I'm not sure if she still does it, but Twitch streamer Sweet Anita (the one with Tourette's) used to devote part of her broadcasting time once a week to hilariously mock the sweatiest/horniest/most vulgar items from her comments section with/for her live viewing audience, calling the segment "Thirsty Thursdays".

I thought it an ingenious practice to tame the stress monster that is 'the Comments', while also doing some great modeling for any perhaps under-socialized members of her audience: "Dudes, don't be this guy, ok? See how ridiculous this sounds out loud?"
(And as always, it's Content! to fill time / column inches.)

What a talented person. As my kids start posting things to the internet, I've been trying to warn them about what will happen in the comments; I think this sharing this song will be a wonderful way to help them understand a bit more about how you can be a terrific and talented person, doing everything right, and still have horrible little people crawl out of the woodwork to shit all over your happiness because it's about their compulsive need to share their hate with the world, and doesn't really have anything to do with you. Arguably the bigger the talent, the larger the crowd of awful people, because they're really just looking to usurp your audience.

See also Hate Loops by HAINBACH, which adds a different physical dimension to artistic catharsis in response to mean-spirited YT comments.

I was looking at Futurama quotes earlier for another thread, and realized that my all-time favorite one was more appropriate for this one:

"No offense, Fry, but you've become a fat sack of crap."

(Underlining, of course, the absurdity of the idea that adding the words "no offense" removes the inherent offense from the horrible thing you're saying.)
