Several Candidates He Spoke To Were Moved To Tears

“Examples like that are a frightening demonstration of why Barkan’s advocacy is so powerful: Americans who could be alive are dead now, silenced by the policy decisions we have made together. We could cover long-term care, but we don’t. Medicaid has a complicated set of requirements for who is eligible for long-term care coverage, one that’s led some couples to forsake their marriage vows or live apart from one another, all in the hopes of lowering their assets in order to maintain or regain the eligibility.“ Ady Barkan Is Running Out of Time to Speak (The New Republic)

Thank you for the post! His interviews with candidates are excellent and finally got me over my Harris interest. #warren

I didnt realize there was such disparity with ALS survivors' longevity between here and Japan - horrified that the reason is exclusion of LTC from coverage!

He is inspiring (and definitely humbling). I had not heard of him before; I'm very glad to know about his amazing work.

Libby Watson did a great job writing it, too; the start of that last paragraph is powerful.

Thank you for sharing this with us, The Whelk.

Thank you for sharing this. I'd seen Ad'ys posts and videos on Twitter during the fight to keep Obamacare, and was impressed with his passion, activism, and humanity. I am profoundly sad to hear how his disease has progressed. I hope he is able to enjoy time with his second child before his ALS reaches its inevitable end.

Currently listening to his autobiography, Eyes To The Wind, which is excellent.
