We've all heard about the many hardships that are involved with saving endangered animals, but what does it take to save an endangered tree?

Of course seeds that can be dried and frozen are "orthodox" while others are not.

I have a notion that if all the diversity could be tallied, "orthodox" seed-bearers would be a minority of species, possibly by a lot.

I'm not sure I would be a good fit for fostering animals. If there's a way to foster trees for the 3-12 months suggested, I'd totally commit to that, useless as the idea probably is! Need to find some endangered plants near me and figure out how to help.

I liked this article, thank you. I love the idea of tree fostering, although with these seeds I don't think you could even post them but if I had a garden/ greenhouse I'd love to grow rare plants for re-planting somewhere.

The story of the Wollemi pine has some similarities. The idea that you can "save"an endangered species by commercializing it may be distasteful to some, but taking away a possible black market from rogue collectors must also be a consideration too. I wonder if that's a possibility for the Madhuca?
