They created a goose for your desktop.

What if the Untitled Goose Game was your entire computer [YouTube] “There’s a pixelated goose dragging my cursor all over my computer screen and every time I try to close the program that unleashed it more just pop up, threatening me with bad jokes and a chorus of honks. This is the unnerving magic of game designer Sam Chiet’s Goose Desktop, a riff on last year’s popular animal mischief simulator Untitled Goose Game. Released yesterday on the indie storefront itch.io, the game dumps a goose onto your computer to mess with you until you just can’t take it anymore.” [via: Kotaku] [Previously.]

Oh man, twenty years ago when IT policies were practically non-existent at my office I’d have loaded this on so many PCs. I once loaded a program that displayed the full Mega Man 2 stage selected fanfare each time an application was opened complete with icon and EXE file name for the Robot Master. The goose would’ve been right at home with that.

Somehow less disruptive than Bonzi Buddy.

So this is like a slightly more annoying version of the sheep desktop companion from yonks ago?

After Dark Bad Dog for a modern age. Also reminds me of the desktop widget tie-in for the The Game movie.

Makes me think of Tiny Elvis from the golden days of Win 3.1 or thereabouts.
I installed it on my GF's computer. Amazed that, after that, she ever agreed to be Mrs. Blank.

I wouldn't prefer it.

Who remembers the Bad Dog screensaver from the After Dark collection for Macs in the 90s. In the settings you could just how destructive it was. I was so bored so regularly and this was the entertainment.

Don't wish to derail but OMG!? Is there a way to get AfterDark running on Windows 10? Please, anyone, I've wanted this forever but I've tried to find and it just leads me to people arguing on the Internet. MeMail if you know how, my nostalgic brain wants and needs this. Thanks.

I've used that Mega Man 2 ... tool? ... to discover what programs were secretly launching other executables in the background.

It's a lovely day on your computer desktop, and this is a horrible goose.

I want to implement this as petty revenge on a deserving someone which means it was very well designed.

I have three 8 hour days of the most boring classes imaginable next week. We all sit dutifully with our laptops open pretending to take notes while we’re actually shopping/doing the crossword/Metafiltering. There are many fans of the Untitled Goose Game in the class.

This is perfect timing.

While not a goose, I once installed Talking Moose on my aunt's Macintosh and I assure you she found it just as obnoxious.
