It undoubtedly is, though. The tumblr post draws from an infamous mangling of the story on 4chan in 2012, with the last line undergoing a lot of memetic mutation.

It wasn't until a reflective moment as an adult when I realized what those fragrant sandy nuggets in my childhood sandbox were. The cats have always been substituting.
