Venture to Idaho Join us as we take Venture all the way from the Pacific Ocean 460 miles inland to Idaho up the Columbia and Snake rivers. Learn about the perils of the Columbia River Bar, the famous Lewis and Clark Expedition and the cataclysmic floods which altered the landscape through which we traveled. Stay with us while we take a jet boat through Hell's Gate on the upper Snake.

It was too fast.

But for real, I wouldn't mind at all a slow TV version of this, slow lock doors and all. I'm glad he included the two most vertiginous things I've seen, the Coast Guard rescue diaroma and the accompanying action photo at the Maritime Museum in Astoria. I'd never wanted to lose my lunch over a bunch of mannequins before.

I've been on this trip a dozen times before but never from the water. I'm curious about their other videos.

That was pretty great. I really liked the emphasis on the infrastructure needed to make the Columbia system support cargo shipping.

And the Klickitat County WWI Memorial! AKA the full-size replica of Stonehenge built by Sam Hill (as in "What the Sam Hill!", yeah, that guy).

It's not just cargo shipping. There are many Gorge River cruises available, from sternwheelers to cruise ships. Portland to Lewiston is the most common. It's a beautiful trip (according to my parents and my aunt&uncle). I've lived in this area and never have, but still could. Someday. Should the day that cruises ever start up again ever drive.

Like fiercekitten I've explored these areas many times, motorcycle being my preferred method of transport. I've got to find someone with a boat.

This was really nice, I watched the whole thing. I’m from this area, was really nice to see it all from the water.
