I've been really tryin', baby

In 2015, a group called "Southern Voice Band" with their singer "Ken" gave a small, private birthday party crowd the performance of a lifetime with a spirited cover of "Let's Get It On". Five years later, somebody uploaded the video to r/videos, and the photographer showed up.

Also, I really think that especially during these trying times we need to stop beating around the bush and start getting it on

Thank you. I've been (at the ripe ol' age of 51) learning how to sing recently, and live examples like this are both inspiring, and get me listening to the nuances that I sometimes skip over in the pro and studio recordings.

And now I'm stuck down the rest of that Reddit thread...

This reminds me of how much talent our world has, and that there are so many great musicians playing small venues, or not playing professionally at all. Same with artists and actors - and quilters, and skateboarders, and anything you can name.

My dream world has even more opportunities for us to stretch ourselves - and some of us will be Ken (and amazing), and some of us will be me singing "Dulcinea" at karaoke (and failing to hit the top notes, but still, not bad).

I was just talking about this with my brother in law the other day. Twenty five years ago it was possible to believe that there were like, tops, 30-40 god-tier drummers in the world. The internet, and YouTube in particular, has revealed that there's actually thousands, maybe tens of thousands. Same with every other musical discipline. There are so many amazing people in the world!
