I spent twenty minutes watching this bonkers metatextual reinterpretation of Blade Runner, "The Lost Cut" so now you have to too.

There is nothing like the opening scene of Blade Runner that exists to make me go to a certain cozy place in the science fiction part of my psyche. Nothing.

Although jumping ahead randomly to 7:36 certainly made me rethink some things.

I'm enjoying this so far.

Now, now, why can't we have our radical gay space communist dystopia?

so now you have to too.

I most certainly do not. I could dial up blissful ignorance or meditative calm.

Would you rather I dial intensely piqued? Because I will.

That's right, walk away and try and fix your broken sheep again. I should have listened to my mother.

Yeah the clip from the Last Unicorn killed me. This seems a fine use of pandemic energy.

Not a basic pleasure model.

I love the subtle links between these movies. Very degrees-of-Kevin-Bacon and so very meta in that own way.

I suspect a large amount of marijuana was involved in the conceiving of this project, and the execution of this project, but perhaps not so much in the storyboarding of this project.

Or perhaps that too.

Hey, man, you don't talk to the Colonel. You listen to him. The man's enlarged my mind. He's a poet warrior in the classic sense. I mean sometimes he'll... uh... well, you'll say "hello" to him, right? And he'll just walk right by you. He won't even notice you. And suddenly he'll grab you, and he'll throw you in a corner, and he'll say, "Do you know that 'if' is the middle word in life? If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you, if you can trust yourself when all men doubt you"... I mean I'm... no, I can't... I'm a little man, I'm a little man, he's... he's a great man! I should have been a pair of ragged claws scuttling across floors of silent seas...

Carrie Fisher's spliced together lines in this were more narratively cohesive than the ones in The Rise of Skywalker.

I notice he included (at 6:50) the BR scene with the gang of oddly dressed little people wandering around in the sector closed to ground traffic. In my head, I've always believed that those are the eponymous characters from Time Bandits, stopping briefly in 2019 LA for some kind of heist. I was hoping he'd tie that movie in too. Alas, no.

This was bonkers good, like describing my dream the next day and it kinda actually cohers (do cinema?) into something resembling a bunch of other things that I may or may not have consumed visually or just randomly thought about in the context of whatever I was drinking but also memory and stuff.
I mean, I like this, and thank you leon. Oh I agree.
