JOKER CARD: Pick up your room

what the fuck

In case you're as confused as me, the image at the top of the article is the thing itself. (Ordinary life has become a Strong Bad cartoon. In principle I approve. But, I still find it confusing every single time.)

This is fun!

I pushed the button three times and it told me to "do a puzzle upside down" twice so I guess that's my life now

It gave me a math trick and I was mad it wasn't working. It turns out I'm not bad at math, I'm just bad at following directions.

It did entertain me for 3 minutes though so I'm satisfied.

JOKER CARD: Pick up your room

The problem with this, from my childhood point of view, is that my mother would likely have not let me have a do-over. She would have made me do it, to the tune of much yelling (her) and angry tears (me), and resulted in a miserable fucking day made 10 times worse because I expected fun and got this. And that would have been the end of the "fun" button in our house.

If I push the button, will snacks appear?

If I push the button, will snacks appear?

After eleventy-dozen button pushes I fear that the answer to this question is no. I also tried dancing at it, but no food pellet appeared. I eventually gave up, and went and made myself a bologna sandwich.

I may try one more time to see if I can get a few Doritos.

Oh, yikes, that edges into The Wheel territory. I, uh, hadn't tried it enough to get any of the not-fun options and also I'm kinda hoping for more dogs as naval admirals.

[cracks knuckles] Alright, let's give this a shot.

Can you do a handstand?
How dare you.

Draw a hopscotch on the sidewalk
There are workers right outside working on the street not wearing masks. No thanks. Also I have no chalk.

Name all of the squirrels you can see from your window
I think you are wildly overestimating the number of squirrels I can see from my window (zero).

Do 50 jumping jacks
There is not enough room in this microhovel to do one jumping jack.

Make a sock puppet
And waste a sock? In this economy?

Build a castle with Lego blocks
Dang, now I want some Lego blocks.

Time for a backyard picnic
LOL "backyard."

Sit silently for 10 minutes (You're welcome parents)
I've got this one beat by hours right now.

Cover some cans with ballons to make your own DIY drums
Ballons? Spelling aside, is this something people just have?

Organize a bookshelf by alphabetical order
You...monster.

Dear Val Kilmer,

I had no idea that you were the voice of K.I.T.T. in the recent remake of Night Rider. Nice job! That must have been a really fun role to play. I hope you remember it fondly.

Sincerely your fan,

Me

\me presses button, gets "Write a fan letter to Val Kilmer" again.

Dear Val Kilmer,

Me again. How was it working with Jim Carey as the Riddler back when you were a Batman? Was he a mensch, or more of a pain in the neck? Does he turn it up a notch when the camera is rolling, or is he running around at that level the whole time? I enjoyed your performance, but it sure seemed like he was trying to channel Adam West's era through a giant bowl of cocaine. Hope you're having a nice day!

SIncerely,

Me

\me presses the button and gets "JOKER CARD: Wash the dishes by hand".

Thank goodness.

My friend is going a bit nuts with home schooling right now. After doing a math exercise, her 8-year-old son's book told him to "Write a humorous five stanza rhyming poem describing how learning about area and perimeter measurements has made you a better person. Your poem must include two illustrations. Glue the poem and illustrations on a poster for a neat display."

I dare the Big Fun Button to top that!

Write a humorous five stanza rhyming poem describing how learning about area and perimeter measurements has made you a better person

Ordering pizza was tricky
When I knew it would have to be shared
But now there's no trouble comparing
Since I know it's pi R squared

When questioned on the area of triangles
I'd often get into a fight
But now I am only a pacifist
Since I learned it's a half base times height

At the gym, I went on the elliptical
People barely left room to get through
But I find there is just enough floor space
If they leave pi R1 times R2

Checking for burglars was troublesome
When the fence was too lengthy to see
But I'm comfortable walking around it
When I know it's 2a plus 2b

Once, I would go round in cirlces
Trying to write in iambic pentameter
But my path has become so much clearer
Now I know that it's pi times diameter

(Did I really spend 40 minutes of my Friday evening on that? Guess I did. I'll need to leave the illustrations to someone else while I question my life choices.)

Hey, it kept you from being bored enough to push the button during that time, right?

Nah, I already pushed the buttom. It told me to sing The Power of Love and read Treasure Island. If anything it was procrastination from my prescribed tasks.
