Milwaukee Journalist Eugene Kane dies at 63

"He Said the Things that Needed to be Said" Eugene Kane, famed Milwaukee journalist, has died at age 63. Eugene Kane wrote for many Milwaukee publications, including the Milwaukee Journal (later the Journal-Sentinel). Aw man. I only read one thing from the Journal/Sentinel as an 80's teenager in Milwaukee: The Green Sheet (which is probably long gone), and looked forward to Eugene Kane's column in it.

Ah, crap. I was among the last paperboys (paperkids?) to deliver the Milwaukee Journal before it merged with the Sentinel and became a morning paper. I remember reading him until I moved away in the late 90s. It always amazes me when people put up with such shit and manage to stay funny, positive, productive. He was a good egg.
