To baldly show…

Star Trek Fact Check (previously) is a blog that revealed a lot of behind-the-camera knowledge about the original Star Trek series, but it's been trapped in a stasis field for a couple of years. Its creator announced today that he is collaborating with another Star Trek insider on a new project that sounds like it has the same ongoing mission: Fact Trek.

Still want to know whether it's true that Frank Sinatra never missed an episode of TNG.

Mod note: Couple deleted. Sorry, if you want to discuss whether people should post links to twitter, a Metatalk would be the place. In this thread let's stick to the link's content.

The teaser pics showing Nimoy with an unidentified woman would appear to have been shot in conjuction with The Cage, the first pilot. She is Susan Oliver, who played Vina. She was a ferociously accomplished person, and we lost her too early.

Holy crap, and I thought that I was nitpicky when it came to Trek.

This bit just blew my mind:
THE DAY'S CALLTIME WAS 6:00AM, WHICH WOULD HAVE MEANT A MANDATORY UNION MEAL BREAK AT 12:00PM (AS YOU MUST BREAK FOR A MEAL EVERY SIX HOURS). SINCE THEY'D ALREADY PAID FOR THE CATERER AND THE BREAKFAST, BOB JUSTMAN CLEARLY MADE THE CALL TO SERVE A BREAKFAST (FROM 7:00-7:30AM) ONCE THE GEAR WAS OFF THE TRUCKS AND EVERYBODY KNEW WHAT THEY WOULD BE DOING. NOW THE COMPANY WAS GOOD TO GO FOR ANOTHER SIX HOURS.
Can you imagine receiving this level of scrutiny at your job? You're just going through your normal day, solving whatever everyday problems come along. You make some boring little decision. And then 54 years later a group of people on the internet are trying to reconstruct your reasoning!

(And even more of us are reading about it on the internet!)

But is it Fact Trek: TNG or Fact Trek: Phase II?

As it happens, today they announced that the unidentified woman is Cynthia Chenault (screen name Cindy Robbins). She was on the verge of quitting acting after 9 years, moving on to writing and producing and more. What she was doing on the Desilu lot perhaps they'll say tomorrow.
