It's a good story, but my guess is that Rose would have been on the short lists of Red's managers even without the prank.  It was only a matter of time before it all came crashing down.

I was an eight-year-old Ohioan in 1988, and I now live in New England. So this just reinforces my hatred of Boston.

This chain of events is vaguely reminiscent of how Jeri Ryan, the actress who portrayed Seven of Nine on "Star Trek: Voyager", was (partly) responsible for the election of the first black president of the United States.

I love this so much, if only to remember how awful Marge Schott was, but then you realize that the lawyer who investigated Pete Rose was none other than Donald Trump advisor/lawyer John Dowd!

I remember reading the leaked divorce papers back in the day. Jack Ryan was a real piece of shit to her. Really glad she got "Fuck You Money" out of the divorce and we got Obama.
