Creating a COde-Free RPG using Sable

Sable is a new game development system which just entered alpha testing. The main thing which distinguishes this from many similar tools is that it is explicitly intended to be used by developers who are blind.

The developer, Ebon Sky Studios, has posted many videos demonstrating the tool, and what is currently possible using it. The alpha will run until May 31.

This is really interesting. I've seen some demonstrations of blind folks coding, gaming, and other interactions, but creating a whole system accommodating of low and no vision is really a great idea. Designing tools from the ground up to be accessible is so different from adding in accessibility after the fact! I'm gonna try to talk to these people.

I am intrigued and would love to test this out. However:
  • You will have access to this alpha test until 31 May, 2020.
  • All projects that you have created will no longer be available for use after the expiration date.

Tearing away people's access to their own work is not the way to go about this.
