as the Dutch like to say, there is no bad weather, only bad clothing.
When it rains, just go hang out at the RijksMuseum. They don't market it to tourists, but you can get a MuseumKaart (card) that is good for 400 museums in the country for a year for 65 euros.

Awesome video, I need to make it back there.

Oooh.. I live in Amsterdam and, yeah, this is gorgeous and gives a nice feel for the beauty of the city. The only small bit of dissonance is the pace of the video which, while ok I like the drama and the quick shifts between seasons is so much fun, but it doesn't reflect the pace of the city. It's calm and quiet here because the Dutch are experts at traffic calming and discouraging car use.

Anyway, here's some footage from my neighborhood from a month ago:

and then what's going on on the canal that's on the other side of those boats: https://youtu.be/Jp9gE7aksuk

Has anyone found a way to use timelapse to tell a story? Wonderful imagery, but after a few minutes my mind wanders.

Seconding antinomia. Thomas Schlijper on his Twitter and Facebook stream too is the Amsterdam city chronicler. He sometimes livestreams bike rides around the city and so is the best way to get a feel for a much more real Amsterdam.

It has much more of a village feel now that the tourists are gone and the touristy areas like the Red Light district have become quiet neighborhoods - I was there recently grabbing a coffee and sitting peacefully by the edge of the canal. Many people here are not eager to have scenes like those in the video - hordes of people wandering around the Dam aimlessly - return to the city.

Gorgeous imagery and great visual rhythm. Loved the moon over the city.
