When a decomposing, century-old film becomes a haunting meditation on memory (Aeon): Created using a decomposing 35mm print of the crime drama The Bells (1926), the experimental short Light Is Calling (2004) depicts a dreamy encounter between a soldier and a mysterious woman.
Bill Morrison has made a number of films using found or decaying silent film footage - I highly recommend his extraordinary feature-length documentary "Dawson City: Frozen Time" to anyone who enjoys this.

Love this (and loved Dawson City). I still miss seeing films projected in 35mm; even a brand new print always has some nicks and hairs visible that prove that it's physical tangible object. Digital projection will always feel like I'm watching a video game.

Makes me think of the musical projects of William Basinski and The Caretaker.

I was going to say this sounds like Bill Morrison and glad to see that it is.
