The (witty banter) that threatens doom

Two Minutes to Late Night (s01 finale) is a Brooklyn-based musical talk show fronted by Gwarsenio Hall (aka Jordan Olds) alongside house band Mutoid Man, featuring a combination of live musical performances, guest appearances, and in-depth interviews. During the pandemic lockdown, the team has been working to organize collaborative covers recorded remotely by wide ranging performers and a fantastic selection of songs - see the most recent, Emma Ruth Rundle + Mastodon + YOB + Old Man Gloom covering Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill".

Some highlights of the prior Bedroom Covers include:

Chelsea Wolfe + The Dillinger Escape Plan + Mutoid Man cover Sabbath's “Crazy Train
Will Putney + F**ked and Bound + Mutoid Man cover White Zombie's "Super-Charger Heaven"
Coheed and Cambria + Mastodon + Primus + Tool + Mutoid Man Cover RUSH’s “Anthem
Mutoid Man + Khemmis +Thou Cover Weird Al's "Dare to Be Stupid"

In addition, TODAY ONLY, the TWTLN Bandcamp page has the second volume of these covers as MP3s with all proceeds going to the Cancer Research Institute. Luckily, none of the funds need to be directed towards Gwarsenio's legal battle with GWAR lawyer Subpeonas Maximus. (in addition, all Bandcamp proceeds on Bandcamp Friday go directly to the artists to support musicians during the pandemic, with no revenue being taken by the hosting site. Load up on excellent music!)

ERR totally aces that Kate Bush cover, even if it's meant to be extremely silly.

I have no idea how my brain made the mirrored typo of T*W*TLN as an abbreviation. Mods, please hope me!

TMTLN has been a boon during these times. The covers are a little hit and miss (mostly hit) for me, but the highs are SO HIGH. Like, Max Weinberg, of THE E STREET BAND, drumming on The Misfits' "Earth AD"? WHAT? And the ERR Kate Bush cover is amazing.

Two other great covers from the St. Vitus series:

The Trooper (Iron Maiden) - Mutoid Man w/ Dave Davidson and Carina Zachary
Hot for Teacher (Van Halen) - Mutoid Man w/ Gina Gleason

Love this show even though I'm not a super-big metal fan! Not always a fan of the covers, but I'll be damned if that Running Up That Hill doesn't make a shockingly good hard-rock/metal song.

There was another female singer they had on a year or two ago who had a really rough, whiskey-soaked, Rod Stewart-y kind of voice who I really loved, but I can't recall her name now. Sound familiar to anyone?

Picked the bandcamp album earlier, much like other folks Two Minutes to Late Night has been a boon over the past few months.

Not many people can out-Danzig Danzig but Gwarsenio pulls it off. Ridiculous charisma and musical talent.

The cover of Soundgarden's 4th of July is a personal fave.

Also any Gina Gleason content is appreciated.

Ah, there's a method to this madness! I've seen some of the cover videos, but didn't know how they fit together. Thanks for this post!

Also, I'll do my duty as a New Mexican and point out that the Santa Fe, NM, based Old Man Gloom take their name after hometown tradition of Zozobra (previously).

The Candy's Room cover is really amazing! That song is fast and loud to begin with, but they turned it up to 11.

omg their bedroom cover of Anthem is pants shitting good. Claudio Sanchez of Coheed & Cambria slays the vocals, he's singing it just like 1974 Geddy would, a real glorious studied homage. Les Claypool is basically Geddy's bass baby, and damn Danny Carey makes a convincing Peart.

I would pay some dough to see that lineup play a whole Rush tribute show.

Wow, these are pretty great.

Oh, god, I just got to the Rush cover and saw the washing machines and rotisserie chickens! Now that is a nice touch.
