what is the point of this?

i don't think there is one -- unless you have some strong feelings about the rights & wrongs of dressing animals up like people.

but it is fancy. awww.

Not sure, but I think the kimonos are for sale. And I love the sleeping dog. Ain't modeling a bitch?

sure, the little dogs can wear kimonos, but can they also balance pancakes on their heads? that is the true test.

if you're into dressed-up animals, you might want to check out merlin who loves to dress up in fancy clothes. ridiculous, but cute. and fancy.

where are the PETA people the one time you really need them? Seeing people dress up animals makes me sad. ; )

These remind me of the magician on 30 seconds to Fame last night. You know, the one...aww, screw it, nobody else saw it anyway.

I also like how they are trying to force the tiny, rat-like dogs to eat apples. It just makes sense!

Anyone know where I can get a pattern?

I really can't comment on this given past behaviour. That's Tigger dressed up for the Union Square dog halloween back in '97. He's never forgiven me, though he did win $200 worth of gift certificates from Petco. Another reason why I'll go straight to hell.

Even a nice kimono can't make those dogs cute.

I don't think this goes far enough. I want more ethnically themed doggie-vestism. A chihuahua in a sombrero perhaps, an English Bulldog in a derby, a French poodle in a jaunty beret, even....

I'd pay good money to see a German shepherd in lederhosen, but I'm not too excited about seeing an Australian sheepdog in a pool of beer and vomit.

"Little dogs in little kimonos."

Of course. Little dogs in big kimonos makes no sense at all, and big dogs in little kimonos would be borderline pr0n.

Horrifyingly, babelfish translates the caption for the photo on the right side of the second row as "The monstrous beast handle of faint color errand (the male be completed in the black child)." Yikes.

varmint, I like this line at the end the best:

"Be sure to clearly write the weight of the love dog,"

Oh, yeah. Loooove doggy.

Is there any significance to the apple on a stick? Can it be used to pacify dogs that might otherwise be enraged by the poor choice in kimono that they are lumbered with? I suppose it's like the poem says:

Apple On A Stick

Apple on a stick, apple on a stick
I can lick it all day and not get sick.
Apple in a cup, apple in a cup
I can drink it all day and not fill up.
Apple in a crunch, apple in a crunch
I can eat it all day, it is so good to munch
Apple in a cake, apple in a cake
I can eat it all day with no tummy ache
Apple in a pie, apple in a pie
I can eat it all day and never cry.
Apple in a dish, apple in a dish
I can eat it all day, it's so delish!

i think the apple is an accessory. they have the little fans and purses in one of the apple pictures. the apple is either to hold, or maybe it's one of those things that the geishas stick in their hair.

I think they're going for a "summer festival" theme. People wear kimonos (yukatas, actually, which are more informal and cheaper than kimonos) to summer festivals, and they eat apples on sticks.
This is disturbing, but extremely cute.
