A full trailer for WandaVision premiered during last night's Emmy broadcast. Den of Geek provides a breakdown of some of the clues appearing in the trailer, including one that may indicate how a certain segment of the Marvel Universe could be brought into the MCU.

this looks bonkers in a good way. Not my bailiwick, but from the youtube comments

"There are so many comic vibes in this. I recommend reading the 1982 and 1985 series for Vision and the Scarlet Witch and then 2015 The Vision. They’re the main inspirations. But the reality altering may make more sense if familiar with Avengers: Disassembled and House of M as well."

The imdb cast list is intriguing in a good way. Like, why would Darcy from Thor and the team leader of Nextwave be in this show?

It would be interesting if they reverse Wanda's wish from House of M. Imagine the last scene, the last words, whispered out full of hope: "make more mutants".

(Also, while we're wanting things, please retcon the retcon and make Magneto their papa again, Marvel.)

Fun Facts: Monica Rambeau was also the team leader of the Avengers for a while in the 80s. In the MCU we last saw her as an 11-year old (in 1989) in Captain Marvel.

I really enjoyed the Wanda and Vision books from a long time ago, but the 2015 Tom King Vision series was just downright incredible. I am sooo looking forward to this series.

"Available exclusively on..." oh look they're really not understanding the less than a decade old lessons on how to combat piracy. I just don't even understand corporations any more. Less brains than slime mold, which although they too engulf and devour everything, apparently also can learn?

I am deeply unhappy with Disney's near monopoly over the movie industry in the USA, but please name a single instance of a television network choosing to air their original programming anywhere other than...on that network.

I believe the person who cut the trailer is a big fan of "A Serious Man", because we once again have Fred Melamed banging something to drive the trailer into weirdness.

Disney's near monopoly is definitely disturbing, but damn if we don't have D+ because of all the enjoyable shows/movies.

But if we're going reality bending, ain't no reason why she doesn't bring back everything who died in Endgame.

Specifically Black Widow.

I'm excited for comic book movies that look like comic books. Bring on more bonkers and interesting visuals! Something as creative as Into the Spiderverse is probably asking too much. But could we have something as fun as Doctor. Strange at least?

I'm 100% unfamiliar with this Marvel series though. Is there some good run I should read? NoMich mentioned 2015 Tom King up above... The linked article hypothesizes the story may be a fusion of two separate Vision storylines.

The main comics that this show seems to be based on are:
  • The 1985 Vision and the Scarlet Witch limited series by Steve Englehart.
  • Tom King’s 2015 Vision run.
  • James Robinson’s 2016 Scarlet Witch run.
  • Michael Bendis’ 2005 House of M limited series.

The comics have dealt with this specific question more than once: why doesn't Wanda just bring back the dead? And necromancy never goes well.

Magneto as their father was also a retcon. Comics!

No one's ever really gone. Comics!
In Wizard magazine in the 90s someone wrote, "Only Bucky stays dead." See where we are now.

If Dawn of X has taught us anything, and boy has it, it's that death as the ultimate 'stake' is meaningless. There are bigger issues.

Last time, the result was 16 million mutant zombies. Of course, one of them was the Worst X-Man Ever, who's awesome, so I'll give her that.

Meh, the MCU just killed off half the universe and then brought'em back five years later with no real consequence, it'll be fine.

I usually have no interest in comic book superhero stuff. I don't hate it. I just don't particularly like it.

This looks interesting. But I gotta be suspicious that the 3rd act of this devolves into a tedious CGI explosion fest full of badly edited action scenes and "witty" banter until the World is Finally Saved Again.

Honestly, the inclusion of Fred Melamed is 100% why I am going to dive into this one.

His inclusion gives me hope that the series is going to have some strong comedic elements. He was one of my favorite minor characters on Childrens Hospital and an even better character when they brought him back for the CH spin-off Medical Police.

The ending I wanted for Endgame: Nebula gets the glove and resurrects literally everyone Thanos ever killed, including Gamora's mom, and makes him watch. And then dusts him.

It's okay to have happy endings. It's okay to fix stuff.

That’s the series I want to watch. The psychological effect on normal people when half the world disappears and then just reappears five years later. Like The Leftovers just even more messed up.

The Returned?

I meant, that happened in the last Spiderman movie (dealing with "returned" people).

Yeah, I would LOVE to such a series, it has so much potential!

It's never gonna gonna happen or be referenced except as witty banter.

Anthology series: "The Blip."

I have decentish hopes for this one. People have mentioned some of the better appearances of Vision and the Scarlet Witch; there have also been some not-so-great episodes, particularly for Wanda, so just avoiding those would be pretty good.

Last time, the result was 16 million mutant zombies.

And she actually just did it again in the X-Men's Empyre crossover. The result? Also zombies. There has to be some "definition of madness" thing here about trying the same thing over and over and just getting zombies every time.

Star Trek: Discovery is only on Netflix outside of the US (and Canada, I think?) In the US it's on the CBS streaming network.

This is a TV series, not a movie. per the Mandalorian, there will be a large fight in the final episode but we'll be left with more questions than answers - tune in next time! Drink Your Ovaltine!

Also does the MCU Scarlet Witch have actual witchy powers? All she does in the movies is move stuff, which seems a lot less interesting than anything she did in the comics.

OK, Star Trek: Discovery in the world except for the US, China, Syria, North Korea, and maybe Canada

I don't actually care about Disney+ choosing to show their own shows and am being silly about the Disco thing, if that isn't clear. It's just a fact that I recently learned.

WandaVision looks amazing -- I hope it stays as weird as the trailer.

The Marvel television series Legion was very very very comic-book-ish with its presentation. Not so much in "frames on the screen" but more with being very free-flowing with its sense of reality. If you can draw it, you can film it, it seemed. Enjoyed that series quite much, and I'm not even a comic book fan.

She spent Age of Ultron giving everyone visions of their deaths/failures. Other than that it's mostly been standing in the background pushing stuff or going pew pew pew.

I have never, ever found Wanda interesting in the movies. Vision is a little interesting. But that said, seeing them as a perverse 1950's couple definitely amused me here.

I nth the "BRING BACK BLACK WIDOW." Not gonna happen in a TV show, but still.

The second Spider-Man kinda vaguely dealt with everyone's return, but was far more "Fun school trip!!!" than "Half my classmates are now graduated and gone and we suddenly have all these kids here again."

The way Black Widow died was incredibly dumb and the writers could have easily written literally anything else to happen at the soul planet but Natasha wasn't even the most interesting Black Widow in the MCU (imo that'd be Dottie from Agent Carter, which Endgame suggested was canon to the films). After the Black Widow movie comes out I'll be shocked if she's even top 3.

Stop giving yellowface Johansson work and let's see what Florence Pugh does as a super spy.

Hmm...those aren't generic TV show sets, but specific ones. The Dick Van Dyke Show is the main one, but also The Brady Bunch (the shot out the sliding glass door onto the backyard), and the stairwell (and kitchen I think) from Family Ties.
