Comparing countries by number of cases doesn't seem that useful. Populations vary.

I was curious about that aspect of the article too, so I checked using this data plus Wikipedia:

Reported deaths per 100,000 people:
Cuba 1
Uruguay 1
Venezuela 2
Nicaragua 2
Paraguay 10
El Salvador 13
Costa Rica 16
Puerto Rico 17
Guatemala 19
Dominican Republic 21
Honduras 26
Argentina 32
Colombia 48
Panama 61
Mexico 61
Ecuador 63
Brazil 65
Chile 68
Bolivia 70
Peru 100

The case statistics seem like the least useful part of this, as they're available in better formats elsewhere, such as Worldometer, as aniola notes. The information about government responses and the economic and social impacts of the pandemic are quite interesting indeed. I've bookmarked this for work, thanks aniola.

I've run some of these numbers for those countries leading in coronavirus infections and deaths. Several of the leading countries are in Latin America. Interestingly, Spain and France have returned to the top ten in terms of weekly new cases (adjusted for population). Israel has alarming numbers.
