(Small typo in the FPP: it should be "Adobe" rather than "Abode".)

I know someone from the actual town in Virginia called Farmville who will probably be delighted to finally stop hearing the same joke when she says where she's from.

Granted, before FarmVille the game came out, she just heard different jokes.

I was just thinking about orisinal this morning, so I feel bad about the demise of Flash for reasons other than FarmVille.

Hats off to Gibson. Not only does she get in 'Del Boy falling through the bar', but comes up with a genuine LOL moment with the caption. #Winning #NoSpoiler

I'm pretty sure that I've had that thing blocked on FB for about 10 years and 11 months.

Facebook’s newest addictive game, Fashville, is still going strong.

I’ll say it: for a while I played the hell out of Farmville. I spent actual money on it so I could collect holiday decor and special sheep. And I still have friends I “met” via the groups where you’d find people who played and friended them so you’d never have to hear the outsized complaining from your alleged real friends who never bothered to learn how to block Farmville notifications.

Eventually I stopped playing because I accomplished everything I wanted to. But this news makes me sad. It’s the end of an era for casual gamers.

I think the biggest news for me here is that Adobe was still "supporting" Flash.

I’m really amazed he never made the jump to mobile gaming when it came out. So many of those games would translate so well to iOS designwise. They really feel like a predecessor to games like Monument Valley and Tiny Wings.

Have Zynga had an original game idea of their own yet?

I have two orisinal games on iOS, mikesch. They did translate well! But neither of my two favorites. Maybe someday.

The thing that really made Facebook huge was games like this, and so in its way Farmville is partly responsible for our current misinformation woes.

Oh man, I think about Orisinal all the time. And I'm still hoping someone will find a way to save the Submachine games so they'll be playable.

I was never a Farmville player, but I'm still farming on Hay Day, so who am I to judge...

Does anyone else find it odd that the game is apparently not worth even a crappy port to HTML5, or some emulation layer or something? Maybe it's really that much less popular than it was at its peak (I was always more of a Cow Clicker fan myself) but that was one of the most popular games around and they obviously still had at least a handful of people paying.

Also HA
"Need two horseshoes and five harnesses. Also bottles and blankets," I wrote, on 23 July 2010. The eve of my wedding. Yep, I was still focused on horse admin, at a time when I should have been getting my nails done and cutting a hole in a sheet.

Every time I've seen headlines about FarmVille closing down, I imagine Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp doing a FarmVille Aid concert, and it just tickles me, so I'm sharing this here in case you share the same horrible brain worms that I do.

Yep. And whether or not Sun is still supporting Java, the browsers are removing support for them. This has been mildly amusing (read: ABSOLUTELY FUCKING TERRIFYING!) as our company has many homegrown apps that are keeling over/will keel over soon because someone with enough confidence convinced others the homegrown solution using Flash or Java would save money.

01/01/2021 looks to fall on a Friday and I hope with all these changes, it is my most interesting Friday, workwise of 2021 because I am happy to stop supporting crappy in-house products.
