Let Your Body Move to the Mashup ...

Hood Internet presents 1990, with at least 1991-1994 forthcoming each Thursday in October 2020. Previously on Mefi. Also new today: 1980-1989 continuous mix.

(I'll link future videos in the comments as they're posted.)

Next mashup should include Buffalo Stance, Back to Life and Hippy Chick. I'm uncomfortably excited.

Apparently I am very specifically a 1990 kid

Hi there, high school and college years. I'll very much be looking forward to each Thursday. Thanks for this, metabaroque. Truly. Because I need all the distractions I can get this month.

This reminded me that there actually was some good music still in 1990, and it also reminded me of how much Wilson Phillips sets my teeth on edge for some reason.

I wonder at which year the stuff I don't like will outnumber the stuff I do...

Truly a blessing.

This is like distilling junior high down until it fits into a shot glass. Which is fitting because I threw up to at least three of these songs.

What's the video with the high key BW image of a shirtless ripped man playing guitar?

These are ALL the best songs, and high school me will fight anyone who says otherwise.

That decade-long mix link... when it's in its groove, it's utterly sublime. It has some awkward sections, but damn, when it hits, it hits hard. Often with laughter of joy and recognition.

Thanks for posting. I'm making my co-workers listen to this tomorrow at some point.

I was really hoping, even though I knew it would be a serious long shot, that they'd find a way to work in something from Flood.

Wow. I had really a lot of those albums. Or those songs on hits compilation albums. This was pretty much right at the time when we first signed up to receive 12 cassette tapes for a penny. It got a lot more expensive after that first buy-in, but there were still buy 1 get 2 free types sales, so there was probably no year where I bought more music than 1989-1990 (life happened in school years then, not calendar years) until I was well into adulthood and buying MP3s rather than CDs or cassettes.

Speaking of mashups, Neil Cicierega's Mouth Dreams came out 2 days ago.

Further evidence that 1990 was the peak of human civilization.
