Two scifi/fantasy stories, both from 2009, about women superheroes. "Ms. Liberty Gets a Haircut" by Cat Rambo is light: "They have gone through twenty-two candidates, making notes, asking questions. The twenty-third arrives, dressed in black and steel." "Origin" by Ari Goelman is alternately silly and serious: "'I should never date other supers,' I say, not for the first time. I put my hand on my stomach. Crap. I can barely keep a spider plant alive. There's no way I'm ready to be a mother."

Just an aside, I really appreciate these short story recs as a distraction from current events.
Is there any shared search term or tag I can use to find all the past posts?

cheshyre: glad to hear it! I am in the habit of tagging mine with fiction, shortstory, and shortstories, plus some others. I see fellow MeFites have also used those tags a lot, so there's even more distraction in the archives! :-)

In the end they take on three provisional members: Rocketwoman, the Sphinx, and Zanycat. Three months trial membership, no health coverage until that period is past...

I see the first story is set in a dystopia.
