Twoonty covers popular songs as K.K. Slider, a famous canine musician in Animal Crossing, including The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out to Get Us! (Sufjan Stevens), No Surprises (Radiohead), and This Charming Man (The Smiths). posted by adrianhon (6 comments total) 18 users marked this as a favorite

Take On Me, originally by a-ha.

The Sufjan cover is pretty great. Telling that the style really makes it through, though the instrument choices are spot on for KK.

Another guy doing this is Clay Kramer, who did the a-ha cover linked above.

Preadatory Wasp is pretty much the best Sufjan song (up there with 'The Only Thing'). This is lovely.

Alright - so, I know this is in the style of Animal Crossing, but - No Surprises is such a good song that even in this retro-8 bit sound with no lyrics it can still make me tear up... just the chordal changes ... its up there with some of the key changes in Elanor Rigby... just so simple and clean and staying on the same note just leads to such a different feeling as it happens.

The Sufjan Stevens song used to be on my heavy rotation 10 years or so, but even with that ... sad laughing reprise / echo / fade... however you'd describe that last theme... it can't compete to No Surprises...

Note: I am not an animal crossing player or even a switch owner... so I don't get the full context of the character, but just hearing the music... yeah. I get it.

That Sufjan Stevens cover is what I'm going to hear when I finally go to meet my Maker.
