I recently wrote a novel without Qs or Zs, and even that was harder than it sounds.

It is amazing that you can Ctrl-F 'e' and pretty much get the title, a spot at the bottom and site navigation... That is a lot of real estate with no e.

If you find this sort of work intriguing, I should say that "A Void" by G. P., shown at that link - and brought stylishly into our kind of writing by Adair - also contains lipogrammatic transcriptions of Shakspar's "Living, or not Living", PBS's "Ozymandias", John Milton's "On His Glaucoma", Thomas Hood's "No", Arthur Gordon Pym's "Black Bird" and Arthur Rimbaud's "Vocalisations" (plus sundry partial quotations from additional authors).

I have never tried lipogrammatic writing, at least not willingly. I once was eating some biscotti and a crumb dropped into my computer keyboard where it wedged beneath a key and prevented its use. I didn’t have any compressed air handy to dislodge it and other efforts failed; until the following day when the office supplies store was open, I was stuck with this situation. I thought it would be not too great a hurdle, though, as it was only the comma.
I found myself writing like a bad Hemingway pastiche. There were apples. There were oranges. There were also pears.
