Ah, that's lovely. This is just up the road from my husband's hometown, where my MIL still lives. We have been to the Elan Valley reservoirs (which are wonderful) a couple of times but never stopped in Rhayader.

That little boy looks to be about my daughter's age and there's no WAY she'd cooperate with filming an advert like this. We'd end up spending more than £100 in bribes alone. Very impressed with his screen presence.

I remember the one from last year. So, so, so sweet! These make me feel like I need more nails, screws and light bulbs in my life.

That's great - thanks for sharing.

I spent a week in the Elan valley/Rhyadar digging holes and measuring rocks for my MSc dissertation the early 2000's with my now-girlfriend. It was my first visit to Wales and a very friendly place, although I can't remember going into the hardware shop. I did mention I needed more knitting needles (to measure the direction of said rocks) and the owner of our B&B rang the son of the owner of the knitting shop, who rushed out to open early for us. I remember she had an excellent knitted full welsh breakfast on display. We also went to a pub where we were identified as 'youths' and directed to a garage next door where the landlord's son had cleared some space and was playing pearl jam on a tape player. The beer was good! My MSc dissertaton was inconclusive :\

Beautiful place for walking once things are back to normal, and I'm glad to see the local shops are doing alright.
