Thanks for sharing! I'll always be disappointed that I never saw Lou Reed in concert.

Given the current time of year, it feels doubly wrong that Yule is missing.

"MCMXCIII" means "1993", in case you were wondering.

Thanks for sharing! I'll always be disappointed that I never saw Lou Reed in concert.

I did see Lou Reed in concert but, sitting directly in front us were two teenage girls who insisted on screaming Lou-u-u! Lou-u-u! Lou-u-u! ad fucking infinitum through every song (despite our pleas to shut up...) until he did Walk On the Wild Side -- whereupon at twice their previous volume they shrieked like banshees nonstop throughout the whole song. So, I share your disappointment and then some.

Reed, apart from singing, looked at the back wall and said nothing. Throughout the entire encoreless concert...

Thanks for posting. I never knew about this (adding the seemingly endless Grand Tetons of things I don’t know about) and am glad to have it! So so good.

Thank you for this! Saw the show at Wembley a few days after. Great memories, so I glad to have seen them.

Ah yes. The old gang mustered up for one last cash in. They all look so happy to be there.

woah those viola/guitar duets are like the harmonies of the spheres...

also, I recall an interview with Lou Reed and Vaclav Havel around this time. VU reunion performs a Prague command performance for him, and after the show Vaclav personally presents Lou with a hand-written transcription of VU lyrics with their heartfelt inspiration to the Czech political revolution... and then Lou launches into a demented diatribe about music copyright laws & royalties? Christ what an asshole. Good songwriter.

This was SUCH a big deal when it happened. I was, of course, totally inclined to roll my eyes, but there are some surprising moments of sweetness. The audience's unabashed adoration of Moe Tucker singing "After Hours" always got to me (well before her disappearance into the neocon void), and I found Cale's steely Welsh reading of "All Tomorrow's Parties" to have a certain elegiac quality. Of course, I still get sad about Nico at the drop of a hat, so.

Thanks for this. To repeat what I said about it on Twitter: How can 1993 Lou Reed look so much like a mid-career history professor and also rock out so hard?

I'll always be disappointed that I never saw Lou Reed in concert.

I'll always be disappointed that I did. It was Glastonbury '92 and he mugged his way through the show like he couldn't really be bothered.

Meanwhile, Tom Jones, who came on later, was quite unexpectedly magnificent.

something I just stumbled upon ...

John Cale - Week in Week Out - Wales and me, Drugs and Alcohol recovery ...

"Heroin's a drug I've come to hate. I've seen it destroy lives and kill friends. Sadly, it's part of life in the music industry. But you don't have to be a musician to be a junkie. Here in Wales it's cheap and easy to get a hold of ... "
