Award-winning novelist John Scalzi has co-written a Christmas song with Matthew Ryan. You can download it for free from Matthew Ryan's Bandcamp page. The story behind their collaboration is worth a read - but you might like to listen to the song first.

That is actually not bad at all, and really apt for the moment. Also, I had the urge to share it with my kid, which is a sign that it's really good.
My kid is waiting for the results of a COVID test to see if they (& partner, and grandchild) can go back to trusting in our tiny little family bubble in time for Christmas. They already decided not to go to the in-laws for Christmas, and my husband has stage 4 colon cancer, and my mother died on Christmas a fair while back, so you know, it's what everyone is going through these days.

I'm half prepared for January 1 to come around and it's still 2020 but now we're in NG+.

That's a pretty darn good song, and the story - and glimpse into the creative process - is great, too. But I'm definitely chortling at jscalzi's description of his handwriting as "genuinely awful."
Like, dude, I often can't read my own handwriting 24 hours after I've committed it to paper. Yours actually has some pleasant-looking flourishes and was clearly written by an evolved ape with opposable thumbs, not scratched in the dirt by chickens with severs neurological damage.
