While sea shanties and experiencing joy are in vogue, perhaps you would like to see The Longest Johns, recently famous as seed crystal of The Wellerman phenomenon on TikTok, making the video for their recent song Hoist Up The Thing.

I wonder if Assassin's Creed including sea shanties in a few games awhile back is partially responsible for the current popularity.

That's such a fun video. I admit that I bought an album from The Longest Johns purely because of the Wellerman thing and it's great! Singing sea shanties with your kids is fun.

Adam Neely has a video about the phenomenon,

And for totally unrelated for reals reasons, I also just found out this week about pirate metal band Alestorm.

Love the Johns! Their recording of “Spanish Ladies” is one of my go-to Feel Good Songs.

This is one of my favorite shanties...now if we could only sing it on location.

As a fan of Carbon Leaf and Great Big Sea, I'm happy that the sea shanty meme has brought me a new band!
