This is timely! We're just about to set up for movie night, and last week I insisted that we watch the original. Before that we watched the TikTok Ratatouille, so this is the perfect synthesis of the two. I love that it's entirely shot in portrait mode.

My friends all asked "So uh, how did Little Hobo take to the Princess Bride?" and I had to explain that the film is designed to be shown to a reluctant child of about the age Fred Savage was when he starred in it. It's like Rob Reiner performed dark Dad Movie magic to create the perfect structure for a bunch of "ha ha that's you, that is" giggling on the sofa before getting back to enjoying the film.

Time and again she'd moan about a scene and then Fred Savage would interrupt and make the same complaints!

I'm glad someone put this up on youtube! This was the only reason I ever even considered getting quibi and I'm glad not to have bothered with it (and apparently hardly anyone else did, either).

wow, Rainn Wilson's delivery of "...UNEMPLOYED IN GREENLAND!" was very spot-on. Really enjoying this, including the very haphazard special effects.

OH, WOW!

I saw folks talking about this in another MeFi thread somewhere and lamented that I would probably never get to see it.

I am SO STOKED!

Thank you so much for posting this, anshuman!

I'm not generally a fan of Adam Sandler, but that's a pretty creditable Peter Falk impression.

Duplicate?

It isn't really a duplicate because that post was about the forthcoming quibi rendition of A Princess Bride and only included a 14min portion of the movie with the intent that people would pay to see the rest. But since quibi went down in flames, it seems that the whole thing is now on youtube for free.

I would not have bet money that anyone could do a better Inigo Montoya than Pedro Pascal but Diego Luna is excellent. Lots of competition for best Vizzini. Who is playing Westley in the Inigo fight?

I am now up way past a healthy bedtime.

Man, Princess Bride really is a perfect film. Future generations will say that there was the wizard of oz, then some other stuff, and then princess bride.

I didn’t hear about this when it was made, and went into it deeply skeptical that it’d be my thing. I’m delighted to say I was wrong - I love this! Thanks for posting!

We watched this a couple weeks ago. One thing that came to mind was that there should never be a remake but that it would make a fabulous play adaptation so that high schools and community theater groups everywhere could have their own adaptation of The Princess Bride.

Brandon Routh as Buttercup with damsel eyes and Courtney Ford as Westley.
A corgi as an ROUS.
Patton Oswalt as Vizzini.

I had forgotten about Jason Segel's amazing Andre the Giant impression. Here he is on SNL, Andre the Giant Gets and Ice Cream.

I have an acquaintance who created a one-person adaptation of Princess Bride for our local Fringe some years ago. The theater community LOVED it. The rights holders... not so much.
