Muppet Gay Bar was exactly what I needed today.

Muppet gay bar (2009, 2021): inevitable result of a democrat taking office.

Careful! That's a good way to get a serving tray upside the head.

What exactly was Electric 6's deal? The same album with “Gay Bar” also has a song titled “She's White”, where the (white) frontman brags about his girlfriend/lover being white, which suggests that they come from a place of VICE-Magazine-adjacent edgelordism.

Sorry, Icarus; you flew as high as you could, but you could never approach the blazing sun that is Miss Piggy singing Fuck the Pain Away.

What no, "Sad Kermit" ?

While far from official, the following are actually loaded into my phone and get regular listening time... Hurt, Needle in the Hay and Something I Can Never Have

Satire, satire, satire. With a little satire thrown in.

What scratch said. A more high-energy version of Ween's nihilistic 1990s role-exploring with sudden left turns into Serious Times.

Tom Waits/Cookie Monster - Hell Broke Luce -- somehow watching Cookie Monster deliver this drives the point of the song home harder than the official video does.

I see your Muppets mashup and raise you the best "Gay Bar" mashup ever. Featuring what we thought would be the worst Republican president this nation would ever have to endure.

Kermit's actual cover of "Once in a Lifetime."

Stayed for the Waldorf and Statler, and was not disappointed:

"Same as it ever was."
"Same as it ever was?"
"Yeah, terrible!"

Way way way way back in the day-- in 2003, in fact!-- I was walking around town listening to the radio when a DJ decided to play a solid hour of Gay Bar remixes and mashups. It was sublime. But was it archived? You bet your sweet assless chaps it was.

Wow, way back at at least 10 years ago, I had a really bad bout of insomnia that lasted for about two weeks, and I remember one of those nights staying up and falling into a rabbit hole of mash-ups and remixes, and out of all of the ones I listened to, I have such a clear memory of this Gay Bar/Muppets one. I've been hit by insonmia again recently (I wonder why) and was recently tracking down that mash-up. Feels weird to be kind of touched by seeing this, but I am.

Sadly, this was just lipsynced to the track, and not actually sung by Miss Piggy (Eric Jacobson, now)

Somebody please tell me there's a muppets vs. Laurie Anderson out there.

This is still my favorite "Gay Bar" mashup (Electric Six vs. Blur, NSFW).
