It's like after making a token effort at capturing a more health-conscious market, American snack foods have just cycled back into becoming a series of ever-escalating dares between the manufacturer and the consumer. "Here, drink this beverage that may or may not be window cleaner. Or are you too chicken?"

"Here, drink this beverage that may or may not be window cleaner. Or are you too chicken?"

And they wonder how the Tide Pod Challenge came to be...

“Bouta buy tons of these and store them to sell for hundreds of dollars in 2035,” another noted.

Dare we tell this person what happens to carbonated drinks in plastic bottles after a year or so?

Nah.

Went to a summer camp that had Nehi Blue Cream Soda as part of the snack bar. It's not made anymore, but it really did look like Windex.

Suspicious timing.

Frostie makes blue cream soda. Oddly enough Blue Sky Cream Soda is not blue.

There is also the more obscure Big Blue, Big Red's cousin. Big Red is the favorite drink of Texas rock/country artists, as the soda fountain version gets into lots of song lyrics.

I'm not sure humanity should be celebrating the return of any soft drink as they: (1) require huge amounts of water to produce, (2) contain an incredibly unhealthy amount of sugar, and in many cases (3) are housed in plastic containers.

A little over a gallon of water is used to make a 2-liter bottle of soda. But that figure surges to as high as 132 gallons of water per 2-liter bottle of soda if you add the water used to grow ingredients such as sugar cane, according to an estimate provided to the company by the World Wildlife Fund. Feb 17, 2009.

The reason for your bias against blue beverages is blatantly obvious, GREENhornet.

I do love the irony that "Pepsi Blue" has become the MeFi shorthand for worthless posts promoting commercial ventures, but that for that very reason, posts about the actual product Pepsi Blue get a free pass on being accused of same.

Agreed, a thin marketing ploy like this distracts from MetaFilter's important coverage of feline-impacted imaging devices and the wend of the orld.

ingredients such as sugar cane

Well, not in North America... we have our own garbage replacement for that sweet sweet cane sugar...

When I was in high school I had an unnatural fondness for this stuff. If it does come out again, I’ll probably buy a bottle to see if it is still as delicious as I remember. Oops.

I heard Little Mikey died after he mixed Tide Pods with Pepsi Blue.
