God bless Jack, he gives us guys with that physique some hope.

When Immigrant Song came on at the climax of Thor Ragnarok, my wife turned to me and asked, "Is that Heart?"

We come from two very different socio-economic communities. Mine is more camaro-adjacent.

Huh. So the original link no longer resolves but rathergood.com is apparently still active and still run by the same person. Searching the site for "viking kittens" reveals this updated link.

(not because it's funny, but just kinda great, here's the Karen O + Trent Reznor cover... Robert Plant's 'aaaaaaaaaaa-ah' is still better, tho.)

OK, fu not used is fu lost (anybody else have a problem with "Cache" being replaced with "About this result")

Here's a Fark Link. Straight to Youtube. TW: NO KITTENS

Thor/kitten mashups?!? Looks like I can get more mileage out of this painting I made for my sister.

Two years ago was robots. (Previously)
A year and a half ago was rubber chicken.

Also, I am a lot fonder of the song when I imagine these musicians wrote it.

It's a real...

...heartbreaker.

Leaves one flat, as it were.

- It's a good version, but it's not the greatest song in the world, oh no..

- Also, "Immigrant Song" is fine, but it didn't need to be used in Thor: Ragnarok twice.

I'm only here to call out waxpancake for saying in the original thread in 2002 that he never realized "how bad these lyrics are".

He was under 25 at the time, though, so I'm willing to wait to find out if his tastes have sufficiently matured over the subsequent 18 years.

Mutant Lobsters from Riverhead, that has to be the most outrageously rocking cover of Immigrant Song ever! It's been a long time since it's given me that delicious shudder down the spine...

The trailer for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - using the Karen O/Reznor Immigrant Song above is simply the best example of syncopated 1 second smash cuts ever filmed.

Period.

It builds suspense, lots of tantalizing images showing the drama & cinematography of the film without giving anything away plotwise.....it piques your interest in an increasingly heart-racing way..... utterly hypnotic and engaging, and perfectly uses the music and sound in combination.

I'm 100% serious when I say this, as an aficionado of the form:

I honestly think it's the best movie trailer ever made.

I'm sorry, but the best cover of Immigrant Song is the bardcore one in Old Norse.

Well, you wouldn't like when I sing "We Are the Over-hyped" at a certain point in the song either.

"Also, "Immigrant Song" is fine, but it didn't need to be used in Thor: Ragnarok twice. " - Halloween Jack

I choose to believe it was universal balance for no Godzilla movie using the Blue Oyster Cult song (by that point in time.)

I really dug the Karent O/Reznor cover and agree it worked amazingly well in the trailer. I hadn't listened to it in quite a while though and listening to it reminded me heavily of something else.

I figured it out, and it's the American Gods - Opening Title Sequence
