Spinning the 78's from the top of the world

Arctic Outpost Radio is playing great shellacs from 1902-1958. Big Band, Jazz, Swing, Vintage Country, and Blues. As always, completely commercial free. Cal Lockwood spins from Longyearbyen (a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean). Last year, Portuguese comedian Nuno Markl, made AOR internet famous.
When I clicked just now, he was playing something that sounded kinda like Morricone, which is great. I used to deejay 78s occasionally, but the spring on my Victrola unsprung a while back and I haven't replaced it yet.

Love it.
There's a little non-commercial Big Band radio station near me. Fortunately, they also strream.

This is a nice accompaniment to the snowfall we're getting right now in the Mid-Hudson. Makes everything feel cozy. Thanks, Nuno Markl!

Arctic Outpost is also on Radio Garden, of course. Right here.

By weird coincidence, I was wandering Radio Garden last night out of curiosity to find the northernmost radio stream source. I got as far north as KBRW-AM 680 in Utqiaġvik*, Alaska (71°17′26″N) although the stream was offline last night.
*(In most of the US the town is more commonly known as Barrow, and Radio Garden displays the name as Barrow, but its name was originally Utqiaġvik, changed to Barrow in 1901, and changed back to Utqiaġvik in 2016.)

He’s playing actual records on actual turntables!
(Cal doesn’t update his IG often but it is there)
