Remi Wolf's new clip (yt) has all the makings of a summer hit. This is the track's second vid (yt) though, and is probably worth your time.

Oh man, this bums me out and I hate to be the "I really love their early work" guy but... I was fully obsessed with Woo! and basically everything on I'm Allergic To Dogs! That whole weird mo-cap vaporwave aesthetic on those tracks and videos really felt like an artist doing their thing and loving it. This just feels... sanitised and prepared for mass-market in a way I don't love anything like so much.

The original video and tracks off Dogs! are super great, though. But this makes me really sad.

The melody sounds like a poppelganger I know I've heard before growing up in the 80s. I'm sure of it, I just can't put a name to the original.

If you're thinking of the chorus, maybe "Carribean Queen"?

Poppelganger is my new favorite word.

That's it, I think. Transposing is a neat trick.

Eh, if she hasn't changed managers, it might just be her exploring a new aesthetic and finding a way to fold it back into her old aesthetic. Vaporwave is pretty deliberately stuck in this kitschy late 1900s mode, recycling the same small set of influences; finding a way to broaden that out seems like a pretty good creative move to me.
