MeFi's own The Wrong Kind of Cheese covers five methods for getting accountability, including partners, groups, professionals, apps/gadgets, and events, then discusses flow and distractibility and and links to several ambient noise and faux sounds-of-colleagues websites. Also, the BBC covers Focusmate, Caveday, RemoteWorkmates, and the general phenomenon of sites to facilitate remote videocalls with strangers. Author Courtney Milan has been finding Focusmate extremely useful -- and it reconnected her with an old friend!
Thank you for this; it is very timely for me as I have spent a morning procrastinating. Having ADHD and being the only employee of an organization where I can work from home has not been a good mix for me.

This is delightful! I have used Focusmate a few times and overall have had a very good experience, although I have realized I have to have a certain amount of executive function in the first place to schedule sessions. I definitely recommend giving it a shot.

Hah! I love that twitter thread from Courtney Milan. Sounds like maybe we have Focusmate to thank for the book of hers coming out in ~a week =)

Good gracious, that's me! Thank you, brainwane! I'm not sure anyone outside my industry ever shares my blog (though from the stats, I guess some people are reading it). After 14 years, I often think I'm just writing for myself. How lovely of you! And yay for Courtney Milan!

Thank you Brainwane and TWKoC. These are exceptional links and reminded me to get my copy of Flow out and have another read. The mynoise.net soundscapes are going to save me as we trudge through the last few months (HOPEFULLY) of the 'rona.
