...not judging this till I see Hugh Jackman's counter-move with a new spokesperson for Laughing Man Coffee.

I'll eat my hat if that's not a glass of water with a slice of lemon.

Levar Burton is absolutely a goddamn national treasure, but I did not really understand what was happening in the video.

Man that was fun. I like aviation alright, but they generally kill it with their ad campaigns.

LeVar is having A Moment, and that’s great. More fish for Kunta.

I was hoping he'd take a sip, do his valiant best to make a yummy face, then turn, spit it out, and say, "Ugh, still takes like gin."

Want a great gin and tonic? Spend your money on the tonic, not the gin.

Spend your money on the tonic, not the gin.

This seems like odd advice. Are you buying 30 dollar bottles of tonic? Even if you are it's not going to save a 5 dollar bottle of gin. Get good gin, and yah, don't mix it with tap water.

...

Turns out I feel strongly about gin and tonics.

I think that clip is about Ryan and Levar are greying quite beautifully. Which I resent because I look like an old prospector coot in a Western.

When I tabbed back to Metafilter and opened this link I had just finished watching the TNG episode The Next Phase, which is the one where where LeVar Burton gets phase-shifted so the crew can't see or hear him.

The bit at the end of this with them going "wait, can you hear me? it's usually just me in here" was therefore extra weird.

I don't know how he manages it, but I gleefully watch every single ad Ryan Reynolds puts out.

The name, "Aviation," left me expecting something different. But, cheers!

> something different

Ooh! Previously "In this series of DoD-sponsored educational videos, Levar Burton and various luminaries in the field explain how corrosion works and how to fight it."

I'd heard about these from the excellent Rust: The Longest War by Jonathan Waldman, but didn't realize they were available. Thought I'd have to start a second career as a ship painter or something.
