2021 census includes music playlists In 2015, the Canadian conservative government tried to undermine the census by making it optional. But Canadians fought back and won.
Since then, gleeful social medial posts announce "I got the long form!" and Stats Canada has now provided a CanCon music playlists to enjoy while you enumerate.
Other fun census stuff:
The census was amended to include separate questions about sex at birth and gender after a 2018 Treasury Board report.
There is also a census game!

Thank you for the playlists--I've discovered a couple of new songs I really like!
I remember the first census form I got after Stephen Harper was voted out. I was giddy with happiness and yes, posted a picture of it on social media.

Simply Nailogical works for Stats Canada and did a podcast interviewing her boss(‘s boss’s boss) about the Census!

Yeah, we got the long form. Took about an hour to fill in. Very pleased to see that a whole bunch of questions were free-form, but with separate suggestion lists in the Help pages. It was the nearest thing to a joyful experience that filling in a government form can be.
Also, fuck Stephen Harper entirely.

My mindset as I happily filled in my census yesterday. I hate him and what he did to Canada so much that even if the census took three days I'd do it. Fuck him and his ilk.

Wow, it really is long form. I'm doing it as we speak and have to take a break to find records of my annual household expenses (in other words, I have to ask my better half who pays most of the bills). Also, I hadn't really thought too much about it before, but I got to list the ancestry of my children as Indian, Scottish and Irish...
