As someone who makes quite a lot of maps, it is my professional opinion that these are -- in the parlance -- absolutely buck wild. Love it. Thanks for posting!

These are so interesting to me - especially how, just at first glance, they challenge my ideas of maps: I tend to think of a map as a representation of physical space, and I'm not sure how, for example, "Nature + Nurture: Origins" fits with my understanding. But I'd like to know! I wish there were a way to fully explore each of these projects - they seem like each of them would reward spending a lot of time exploring.
There's something I really like about the initial image of "Mapping Poverty at Scale".
I especially wish I could dive into "NYC Honorary Street Names" and "Mapping Encampment" and "Grounding Lessons" ("It documents my embodied experimentations in textiles, worms, soil, history, and mapping." YAY!)
Overall, I just love the variety of topics, approaches, and styles - all the imagery is so different and so striking.
Thanks so much for posting this, storybored!

Wow, these span a wide range, interesting to see people going back to more tactile, less photoreal presentation styles.
The Quarantine Maps remind me a little of Mitch Miller's DIALECTOGRAMS (issuu link but worthwhile looking).
I remember our first uni mapping project, lecturer had torn a topographic map in pieces (this one for https://www.linz.govt.nz/land/maps/linz-topographic-maps/map-chooser/map-chooser---bz19), and we drew our lot, everyone got about 5kmĀ². We had to go as deep as we could ... and make a kite that represented our discoveries, bonus marks if it flew.

Dr. Shannon Mattern on Twitter. I have become an academic fanboy. All kinds of weird, interesting, multidisciplinary work about space, smell, mood, urban design and much, much more.
