The beach at Felixstowe was lined with deckchairs and ship-spotters as the Ever Given approached.

I can't even imagine the smell from those fruit containers!

There may just be time to set up a TV games show where contestants blind-bid on containers on the basis of only being able to sniff at the doors.

Having spent the pandemic watching a lot of canal-boating on Youtube (Foxes Afloat, Cruising the Cut) I think this post needs a gongoozler tag even though the ship isn't technically in a canal at the moment.

In some ways, it will always be in the canal.

I can't even imagine the smell from those fruit containers!

Next up on the "Frugal Scroungers DIY Home Show"*, how to find great deals on discounted shipping containers and plenty of DIY indoor furniture built from pressure/heat-treated pallet wood... No longer will you have to buy overpriced goop candles to hide the smell of your despair... (don't mind the smell of rat-shit from either the fumigated containers, or the pallets themselves)

*(perfect for dystopian home ownership, in todays "rentier" market - except... try to find zoning allowances for your tiny container home...)

What are we going to do with it? Block the Channel, and then blame the EU?

If only in the canals of our hearts...

it never fails to amuse me that the BBC cultivates such a stodgy image but their volume controls go to eleven.

That movie is 37 years old and the line is delivered by the 5th Baron Haden-Guest pretending to be a cockney. It's about as BBC as it gets.

Is anyone else insanely curious about what’s in the containers? I want short stories about all the various things that unwittingly went on this months long adventure. Bring on the Heroes Journeys of Random Objects!

"... and I said to the grandchildren 'We will bring you down to see it when it hits Felixstowe'"

... unfortunate verb.
