The Beauty of Bézier Curves - YouTube. Earlier this year, 3blue1brown put out a video Why arent you making math videos? (Also, a 3b1b podcast) - YouTube encouraging mathy people to take the plunge and make videos. This is one of the results.

Neat video, though it's strange to see splines described purely in the abstract. I just remember physical steel strip splines in drawing class, bending and weighting them to fit the points on the hull of a vehicle.

The bounding box calculation is clever, but misses a trick from Old Computer days that we've got far too much processing power to care about these days: put control points at your local extrema when creating the curve. That way, you can calculate the bounding box just by walking the control points rather than running a cubic. That mattered a lot when you had an 8 MHz 68000 in a LaserWriter calculating all the spline positions while rendering PostScript fonts. With modern processors, that's too much work.
