I listen to some Deep Purple at least weekly while running and the buried lede here is just how good the rest of the band is. The single and guitarist in particular sound like ringers for Coverdale and Blackmore. Good stuff !

Fabulous performance. Big Charlie Watts energy from Takanobu Masuda on keys.

And if you haven't looked at the Ian Paice reaction piece that philip-random just linked, do! It's an earlier performance that has Yoyoka is playing drums over a Deep Purple recording at the age of 11; it's obviously a tiny bit newer to her than what we see from the session in the OP because it's visibly a slightly wilder ride for her and she's loving that.

Paice upholds his place in the pantheon by responding with all of the genuine, heartfelt respect that such phenomenal playing deserves.

The 12th birthday version of Mistreated is gold as well. Not a single stroke that doesn't need to be exactly where it is.

...and somehow she even manages to turn this pompous old piece of stodge rock into something genuinely listenable. Brava!

...and make YYZ look easy! At ten! WTF!?

I love how the band are mostly shredding as placidly as possible. In my imagination, the keyboardist is actually listening to a podcast in his headphones.

This cover of Let Me Entertain You is an astonishing piece of work. Just 100% solid. There is no way that an unprepared listener would ever suspect that the drummer is eleven years old.

YouTube seems to have decided that Gobsmacking Young Japanese Drummers is a rabbit hole I want to be down, and I can't bring myself to disagree.

Kanade Sato was 13 when this was recorded. And I honestly couldn't identify a single thing she'd have to change to play better, but clearly she could. Holy shit.
