Is it NSFW if it's claymation?

Chainsaw Bunny [6min.]

Takena (given name Nagao) has been slowly uploading short claymation horror videos to YouTube since 2006†. His early videos have an experimental quality (the silent BLOODY NIGHT was the first) and he often revised them (c.f. version2) but his themes of plucky heroines and copious gore are present from the start. By 2007 he had found his stride with Chainsaw Maid (previously.)

Some of his best works are the few advertisements he's done. Maid of the Dead (2013) was for a Halloween event at a maid-cafe in Akihabara. His Lemon Animation videos (2019) for a Japanese builder lack his signature gore, but still involve a horror premise and have some of his most impressive claymation. (The second one is somehow his most popular video by a lot.)

YouTuber YourBeed has a rather technical appreciation from just before Chainsaw Bunny‡ (2019) was released, while hazel (previously) has a more recent take on his work.

† YouTube launched in early 2005.
‡ In case you were wondering; yes, it's anime.

While he's best known for the gore, I think his real strength is in the subtle touches, especially facial expressions. If he has a signature move, it's the half smile.

Love the John Carpenter-ish music.

I love how that guy's happy-yet-neutral facial expression, like Robert Patrick in T2, makes the horror even more palpable.
