The latest in the bonkers Ebay stalking case

What troubles the Steiners, though, is that despite their departures from eBay, Wenig and Wymer have escaped virtually scot-free. Neither has been criminally charged. Wenig walked out of eBay HQ with a $57 million exit package. The following year, after his messages—including “Take her down”—became public, he was reelected to serve as a member of General Motors’ board of directors.
because of course he was.

Powerful people cancelling the consequences of each other's misdeeds is the only "cancel culture" worth serious concern.

Entitled psychopath gets unwitting stooges to engage in illegalities on his behalf and suffers zero consequences. In fact, people who should know better not only excused said psychopath but actively worked to shore up his reputation.

Yep, sounds like 2021 to me.

Has anything happened since the August 21st article? This just seems like a rehash.

Pretty much just the part where the former eBay ceo is suffering in no way, shape or form while fellow plutocrats help to shore up his reputation and social capital.

Great read, thanks for posting!

This article seems to flesh out in more detail the terror and struggles the Steiners faced, including being afraid to call an ambulance in case the stalkers ambushed them, even though David had symptoms of a heart attack. Also, running out of food after being holed up in their house, but too frightened to leave to get food. Delivery was not a trustworthy option, given the string of disturbing deliveries they had already received from the eBay harassment campaign.

Sounds like they have a competent attorney - hopefully the civil lawsuit gets results.

I hadn't seen the previouslies on this, so I'm coming in with a fresh "holy shit" to all of this. the OP article may rehash previous entries but is a well-structured entry into the sordid saga, digging into the revealed facts only after you sit with the Steiners' paranoia and panic for a good long while

anyway. holy shit

Democrats in Congress should hold hearings on this. These kinds of crimes should not escape prosecution.

I'm absolutely always 100% against doxxing and obviously I'm against mailing people pig fetuses.

Except the CEO behind this who skated. There, I'm finding my morals... slip a bit.
