I spent some time staring at the pottery sherd biscuits because I was not sure if they were real pottery or not!

I assumed they were painted by computer, but no, they're hand-painted!

I don't know how anyone could eat one of those. They're incredible.

I have a question. If it's pottery, they're sherds, and if it's ceramic, they're shards, is that right?

"Sherd" is the preferred spelling in archaeology for (as far as I can tell) jargon reasons. It's most commonly used to refer to pieces of pottery, but archaeologists will also refer to tile sherds, brick sherds, etc.

These are amazing! Thank you for posting. I love the blackwork in the Elizabethan set. Also liked the Mudlarking ones. Did you see she has an FB video about making the Staffordshire Hoard ones?

I also went down a rabbit hole in her blog, and liked these posts:

* The Placement Diaries: Part 1, about her time at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust
* The Placement Diaries: Part 2, including the Bram Stoker Collection, "some of the wackiest and most unexpected items I’ve ever come across in an archive"
* SBT Placement: Best Bits, particularly the bit about Ethel Webling
* Adventures at The School of Historical Dress: Part 1
* Adventures at The School of Historical Dress: Part 2
* Manufacturing Moods, on writing and inspiration

Honest question: Do people actually eat these? I'm sure at least some of these get eaten, like the modern styles on instagram are, but I'm not sure I could do it.
