different. I think in one way or another, that's most of us. "Cure For Me" by Aurora is a joyful but defiant rejection of forced conformity and a celebration of our unique, messy, confusing, weird, beautiful selves. Something to kick off the new year.

Lyrics, and note: "'Cure For Me' was the first taste of AURORA's third studio album*. The song was premiered on July 7, 2021, accompanied by a music video. Speaking to NME about the track, she said, "It's quite a strange song. I think some people may really like it and some people may not. Like always, I got inspired by a really huge, dark and horrible thing that happens in the world. The first seed of inspiration came from thinking about the countries where it's still legal to do conversion therapy for gay people and lesbians. I just thought that's so pointless. The first idea was me saying, 'I don't need a cure for me – just let me live, man!'"

* "The Gods We Can Touch," coming out later this month

Aurora on "Cure for Me" via Song Facts: "Sometimes I feel like the whole world is trying to convince you something is wrong with you," Aurora said. "And sadly often people believe this to be true. It is very scary how easy it is for someone to convince you that you are wrong. Or that you are overly emotional, too strange, and not good enough. And I think it's about time we shut those voices out. Because in no way should anyone convince you that you are not worthy because of the way you look, or act, believe in or love. We should be allowed to be human. And we don't need a cure for it."

💖to everyone here, and happy new year. You don't need a cure for you.

I love this -- thanks for sharing, taz! Aurora has just an amazing voice and presence. For those that haven't heard it, I also really love her live cover of God is a Woman.

i came across this by way of another favorite, the charismatic voice, an opera singer who does nice song reactions from a vocal and sound production point of view.

Aurora's song from the Wolfwalkers movie "Running with the wolves" is pretty great as well!

"Atrios" linked to one of her videos some years ago and I've been loosely following her since (general impression is great vocal talent in need of good material...)

I liked her collaboration here. Oh, and of course this amazing cover.
